Spyware

… an interesting article on spyware created and distributed by NSO Group, an Israeli company with close ties to the Israeli government and military… the spyware is called Pegasus and is capable of lodging itself in cell phones and tracking the activities of the owner of the phone… it is allegedly being used by repressive regimes to track journalists and dissidents wherever they are around the world and a recent version is reputed to be able to lodge itself on a phone without any action on the part of the phones owner, such as clicking on an email designed to trick the owner into installing the malware…

… i am sure this is the tip of an immense iceberg…

… there are times when i think about how generally pleasant and unthreatening my life is… then i read articles like this and it is like the opening scenes to Blue Velvet, where all looks pleasant, beautiful and good, when just under the ground there is war, rot and decay… do i want to remain pleasantly oblivious?…
